WBHO Infrastructure has secured the three-year earthworks and civil construction services contract at South32’s Worsley Alumina near Collie, WA.
The project extends WBHO’s presence in the Southwest, where the company has been delivering projects for a number of years, including current delivery of the NBN broadband rollout in Busselton.
The scope of work will principally involve raising dam walls at the Bauxite Residue Disposal Areaincluding associated removal and replacement of residue mud piping. It will also involve general civil infrastructure works. The contract will provide benefits to the local economy, with WBHO committed to ensuring priority be given to labour being sourced from the local area.
WBHO’s General Manager Western Region Will Grobler said:
“WBHO is looking forward to working with South32 Worsley Alumina on the three-year contract.
“The project will extend and expand WBHO’s presence in southwest WA. We are also currently delivering major nbn works throughout the greater Busselton area, and recently opened an office there, so the contract is another demonstration of our commitment to delivering high quality, important work in the region.
“We have a ‘local first’ employment policy, and a key focus in the weeks and months ahead will be maximising opportunities for local skilled labourers and trainees to join us on site to deliver the works.”
