WBHO Infrastructure has won the contract with Roads & Maritime Services (RMS) to construct Ellerton Drive Extension in Queanbeyan.
The project will provide an important new alternative route bypassing the Queanbeyan CBD by extending the existing Ellerton Drive four kilometres, including a new bridge over the Queanbeyan River. The extension will connect east Queanbeyan, where the existing Ellerton Drive ends, with Karabar at the new Edwin Land Parkway intersection with Old Cooma Road. Noise walls will also be constructed to help minimise impact of the new road on nearby residents. The project is scheduled for completion in mid-2020.
Commenting, WBHO’s Managing Director Peter Ryan said:
“WBHO is excited about delivering this needed piece of infrastructure for Queanbeyan.
“With Queanbeyan’s population expected to increase by a third over the next 15 years, we’re proud to be working with RMS, the local council and community to put in place infrastructure that will support that growth.
“Delivering the project safely, and minimising impacts of the works on traffic, the environment and communities, will be our focus from Day One.
“WBHO will also ensure that local industry benefits from the project, with local subcontracting and employment opportunities to be advertised in the coming weeks.”
