WBHO led the delivery of the turnkey EPC Joint Venture for South Africa’s first new greenfields airport in over 20 years.

Project was delivered on a site of some 2,000 hectares, with the scope including 3.7km runway, and parallel taxiway, capable of handling new generation large aircraft such as the Airbus A380. Contract also included all specialist packages including ground lighting and ILS. The project also included delivery of a 100,000m2 terminal building.

The project demonstrated WBHO’s ability to work with designers and clients to surpass expectations and deliver ahead of schedule in challenging circumstance, even while in this instance over 250 client variations were introduced during the works.

All design and construction was completed ahead of schedule, within a tight program of 33 months, in time for the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup
The airport has been named by Skytrax the best airport in the world handling under 5 million passengers.
