Description
WBHO Infrastructure delivered the design and construction of 15 new passing lanes on the Great Eastern Highway between Southern Cross and Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.
The Great Eastern Highway is WA’s key east-west route, and serves as the primary overland freight route to the goldfields and Adelaide. The Main Roads project significantly improved road user safety and transport efficiency through the delivery of 44km of passing lanes distributed over the 225km section of the highway. The project was delivered under live traffic, with over 1,200 vehicles using the highway daily, a high percentage of which is freight traffic. Site works were completed in mid-2017.
