The project will extend the existing Ellerton Drive 4km, providing an important new alternative route bypassing Queanbeyan CBD (near Canberra) that will help minimise the impact of expected population growth on traffic congestion.
The project is being undertaken in a highly sensitive stakeholder and environmental context. The scope of works includes delivering a single lane carriageway 4km in each direction, a new 185m bridge over Queanbeyan River, shared pedestrian and cycle paths, utility diversions, bulk earthworks of 230,000m3 and intersection upgrades.
The project is scheduled for completion in mid-2020.
